目前研究指出,服用Omega-3可能對尚未罹患失智症的健康人群具有防止認知功能下降的效果
- 一些研究表明,多吃海鮮的人認知能力下降的風險可能會降低。而根據美國國家衛生研究院(NIH)的資料顯示:
- Omega-3脂肪酸可能對具有不同遺傳背景的人產生不同的影響。在2017 年的一項研究回顧表明,攜帶 APOE4 基因的人(該基因與 AD 風險增加有關)可能在出現 AD 症狀之前服用 DHA 有益。
- 而在2018 年則回顧了 7 項研究(795 名參與者),研究對象為年齡在 55 歲至 90 歲之間患有輕度至中度 AD 的男性和女性,發現當大腦功能輕微受損時,補充 Omega-3 脂肪酸可能對疾病發作有益。但沒有足夠的證據支持補充 Omega-3 脂肪酸可以『治療』這種疾病。
- 而在2022 年對 33 項研究的回顧表明,『飲食和補充 Omega-3 可能對未患 AD 或失智症的健康人群具有防止認知能力下降的作用』。然而,對於已被診斷出患有 AD 的人來說,認知能力並沒有影響。
