雖然有研究顯示某些抗氧化劑有助於減緩老年黃斑部病變(AMD)的進程,但Omega-3的研究卻無正向發現。
- 老年黃斑部病變(AMD)是一種可導致老年人視力喪失的眼部疾病。根據美國國立衛生研究院 (NIH) 資助的兩項主要研究,即年齡相關性眼病研究 (AREDS) 和年齡相關性眼病研究 2 (AREDS2) 表明,含有維生素C、維生素E、葉黃素、玉米黃素和鋅組合的膳食補充劑有助於減緩 AMD 的進展,尤其對於患有晚期 AMD 風險較高的人群。
- AREDS2 於 2013 年完成,有超過 4,000 名參與者,其中也測試了 EPA 和 DHA對AMD的效果。但結果顯示在補充劑配方中添加這些 omega-3 並沒有帶來任何額外的好處。
- 其他有關 Omega-3 補充劑的研究也未顯示出其對 AMD 進展有益的作用。
